The summer transfer market has been busy for Leeds United, but some more under-the-radar moves have been very important. England under-21s centre-half, Charlie Cresswell has made a vital move to Millwall in a season-long loan deal, while Tyler Roberts also heads to London on loan at QPR.
Unfortunately for Cresswell, Jesse Marsch has several more senior options at CB for the upcoming campaign. Although Cresswell could play up to the level of these options, maintaining a consistent level of minutes on the pitch is more beneficial. This will be done at Millwall at a competitive Championship level.
Cresswell has excelled at internationals and certainly gave a good showing in his first premier league action. And since making his temporary move down to London, he’s already impressed.

Now, Jamie Shackleton has joined his teammate at The New Den.
Shackleton was able to play some important minutes last season as the injuries piled up early in the campaign. He was able to contribute in a small way at times and provide some speed as a late-game substitute.
At this point in his career, he has not shown his full potential and is running out of options to play with the senior club at Elland Road. It is an important year for Shackleton as he will absolutely have the chance to play and define his future path.

It is always easier to settle into a situation with friendly faces and having Cresswell around will provide that comfort. It will also give Cresswell another supporter in the dressing room as he continues to develop as a leader on the pitch.
Cresswell should be on pace to play at Elland Road the following season while Shackleton may have a chance to increase his transfer value for a move next summer.
