When Leeds United announced that Raphinha was not going to tour with them in Australia, it seemed clear that the club thought they could get the deal done within a few days.

Barcelona have been going through financial struggles for a while, but have finally made a satisfactory offer to sign the Brazilian star.

Leeds will receive around €58m plus significant add-ons. Although some of that will go to his former club Rennes, thanks to a sell on clause included in the deal to bring Raphinha to Elland Road.

Raphinha only wanted Barcelona, and even would’ve reportedly preferred to stay at Leeds than to sign for Chelsea, who had a bid accepted weeks before Barcelona could muster something acceptable.

However, his agent, Deco held off on any real talks with Chelsea to force Leeds and Barca to work out a deal.

Raphinha managed 17 goals and 12 assists in 67 appearances for Leeds United, finishing last season as the team’s top-scorer as The Whites secured Premier League safety on the final day.

Not only did he produce strong numbers, Raph also produced pure magic on the pitch. Easily the most talented player to pull on the white shirt for many many years.

Now, The Whites need to use the proceeds to add a striker to their ranks, as well as a left-back hopefully. Who would you like to see Leeds chase after next? Let us know on Twitter @ThruItAllLUFC.
