After The Athletic reported an agreed deal for Kalvin Phillips to sign for Manchester City, they snuck in the details of a second deal ongoing between Leeds United and the Premier League champions.

Darko Gyabi could be on his way to Elland Road in a deal of his own, with the outlet quoting a price of £5m for the 18-year-old.

The Whites, and Victor Orta in particular, are keen on their young talent, with a view to purchasing “careers” not mere “players” with a preference for developing talent for lower prices and selling them on for huge profits, rather than spending exorbitant amounts for talent.

Gyabi fits the bill there, as he won the Premier League 2 title with Manchester City this season, scoring one goal and assisting three in his 11 appearances. He also has two England under-18s caps.

A seemingly box-to-box midfielder who loves the ball at his feet, Gyabi would likely be competing with Lewis Bate as the fellow Young Lion will also be looking to compete following the departure of Kalvin Phillips.
