The Wales international previously had one year remaining on his deal and had been linked with moves away from the club, with rumours of a bid from Newcastle United, however he has obviously done enough to convince Marcelo Bielsa of his place in the squad.
Roberts signed for Leeds United in January 2018 from West Bromwich Albion, but had a lot of early struggles with injuries which halted his development early on. He has since made 82 appearances for Leeds, scoring eight goals, while dropping into a deeper midfield role under Bielsa.
Roberts made 28 appearances in the Premier League, more than would have been expected at the start of the season, and has earned the trust of the coach. It is fair to say that fan opinion has been split on Tyler Roberts at Premier League level but at this point I think he has earned a place in the squad, although not the starting eleven.

Roberts’ decision making in the final third has been rightly criticised at times but it is often forgotten that he is still only 22 and his talent level is high, as is his work rate. I am glad he is staying at the club because if everything clicks he could be a player that can make a huge difference.
Roberts is currently away with the Wales squad for the European Championship, which begins on Friday.
