Leeds United are set to join the likes of West Ham United and AC Milan in the chase for Barcelona left-back Junior Firpo, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Journalist Ferran Martinez reports that The Whites are looking to sign the 24-year-old on a loan-to-buy deal this summer, but the Spaniard prefers a move to AC Milan. Celta Vigo and West Ham have also made bids, but the price is unknown for now.

Firpo has had limited game-time at Barcelona since signing from Real Betis in 2019, making 18 appearances across four competitions last season, 7 appearances coming in La Liga. Last season, Firpo scored one and assisted one in La Liga, a little bit off his best season where he scored 3 and assisted 4 for Betis in 2018/19.

Considering that he only started playing top-flight football in 2017, Firpo is still yet to be fully unleashed despite being 24-years-old, and a few clubs are now spotting a deal to be had as Firpo struggles to overtake Jordi Alba in the Barca squad.

He’s also fairly versatile, filling in at centre-back and holding midfield on a few occasions while also playing left-wing and right-back, and we all know how useful versatility is in the Leeds team.

Despite seemingly being a decent player, if you were to search “Junior Firpo“ on Twitter and check the ‘videos’ section, you will find a barrage of Spanish fans clowning on him. His lack of skill or not having any coordination in his feet, these might be a bit of a warning sign for Leeds fans if a deal were to go through.
