Leeds Player Ratings: Leeds 3 - 1 Spurs. An outstanding performance.

This was truly excellent. Could easily have been six.

Leeds United produced one of their best performances of the season to beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 at Elland Road. Goals from Stuart Dallas, Patrick Bamford, and Rodrigo were enough and the scoreline could easily have been bigger if not for a really good goalkeeping display from Hugo Lloris.

Leeds started well and had the better of the opening. Patrick Bamford was denied by a good Hugo Lloris save early on but it only delayed Leeds taking the lead. Jack Harrison put in a great cross and Sergio Reguilon almost put it in his own goal, only prevented from doing so by another great Lloris save, this time the save fell to Stuart Dallas who smashed the rebound home.

Leeds were still looking good but Spurs managed to make it 1-1 on the break. Dele Alli played a through ball which took a deflection and sent Son Heung-Min through on goal, he finished very calmly to make it 1-1. It was almost a second soon after, Alli played in Harry Kane who chipped an onrushing Meslier, but the flag was up and VAR had him offside by th tightest of margins. It was one of those that you’d say is level really.

Leeds were still playing really well and got their reward when Patrick Bamford made it 2-1 with five minutes left in the first half. Dallas nipped in to win possession, he found Roberts, who found Harrison. Harrison found Ezgjan Alioski who overlapped well and produced a good ball across to find Patrick Bamford who took the chance well.

Leeds were the better side all through the second half as well. There were a few good efforts but Leeds got their third when the substitutes combined. Robin Koch played Raphinha in down the left. He squared it to Rodrigo who took the chance well and sealed the victory.

Time now to look at each player and how they performed. As always you can tell me how wrong I am @mightywhitespod or @ThruItAllLUFC on twitter.

STARTING LINEUP

Illan Meslier - Quiet in the first half, beaten twice (one disallowed) but neither were his fault. Great save to tip over a driven ball from Lucas which took a wicked deflection, another really good one from Lamela. 7/10

Luke Ayling - Without the deflected pass he may have intercepted before Son made it 1-1, but Son was his man and he didn’t get near him. Otherwise, good throughout. 7.5/10

Diego Llorente - Really solid throughout. Did his defensive work with little fuss and didn’t take as many risks. 7.5/10

Pascal Struijk - One really poor pass which resulted in a big chance for Son early in the second half. Other than that he had a very good game. Passed the ball well from the back and made a couple of really good tackles. 7.5/10

Ezgjan Alioski - Had a strong first half, reading play well and making good decisions in possession - topped off by a good assist for Bamford to put Leeds 2-1 up. Kept Gareth Bale out of the game for 65mins until Bale was taken off. Outstanding throughout - one of his best games in a Leeds shirt. 8.5/10

Robin Koch - Good on the ball in the first half, but struggled in his one-on-one battle against Dele Alli off it. Better in the second half including a great pass to put Raphinha in to set up Leeds’ 3rd goal. Really good performance in the “Kalvin role”, would not be a shock if he kept his place. 8/10

Stuart Dallas - Good instincts to arrive at the back post to fire Leeds into the lead. Nipped in well to win possession in the build up to Leeds’ second goal. Moved into the middle of midfield and did everything we have seen in that role recently. 8/10

Tyler Roberts - Involved in the build up to the second goal. Had some nice moments but also made a couple of decisions which left a bit to be desired in the first half. His brief appearance in the second half was very sloppy. 6/10

Mateusz Klich - Much more like himself. Popping up on the ball in good areas. Looked a threat going forward and seemed to have much more energy than we have seen recently. 7.5/10

Jack Harrison - Good through ball to set up Bamford for an early chance. Fantastic cross to set up the opening goal. Played in Alioski in the build up to the second goal. Played well throughout the first half and linked up with Alioski really well. Moved to the right once Raphinha came on and still looked good, quickly setting up a chance for Klich. 8/10

Patrick Bamford - Good early shot across goal forced Lloris into a good save. Some good hold up play in the first half. Good movement to be in the right place to put Leeds 2-1 ahead with a simple finish. Very involved in Leeds’ play in the second half, usually in the build up. Good performance. 8/10

SUBSTITUTES

Raphinha (for Roberts, 58mins) - Good break and pass to set up a chance for Klich. Good composure to put it on a plate for Rodrigo for Leeds’ 3rd. 7/10

Rodrigo (for Bamford, 79mins) - Scored the third goal. Simple chance taken well. Nice moments in build up too. 7.5/10

Kalvin Phillips (for Klich, 89mins) - N/A
