Erick Pulgar “closer to farewell“ from Fiorentina - Leeds make “most concrete offer“

The Whites have been linked with Pulgar since the summer of 2020, with Italian sources seeing a departure for Pulgar on the horizon.

Leeds United have been linked with Erick Pulgar for a while, with La Nazione linking a possible transfer again at the end of December, alongside Fiorentina teammate Christian Kouame.

While Kouame looks as though he’s on his way to Torino, Erick Pulgar is still being linked to a move which could be getting closer.

La Nazione have returned with updates on the reported interest, saying that Leeds have made the “most concrete offer,“ and that Pulgar is closing in on a departure from Florence. The Chilean international has made just 10 Serie A appearances this season, starting just four games while also sitting on the bench for the last two games.

This has come in spite of his excellent campaign last season, as the 26-year old scored seven goals and assisted nine in league and cup, playing in holding midield, central midfield or even centre-back.

The Whites are currently short on defensive reinforcements, with Robin Koch; Diego Llorente; Liam Cooper and Gaetano Berardi out injured, with Cooper and Llorente the closest to full fitness. This has also sparked talk of a possible loan deal for Leeds to bring Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori to Elland Road on loan.

Leeds are expecting a quiet transfer window this January but Marcelo Bielsa has already said publicly that if a player that significantly improves the team becomes available then he is open to adding more players to his squad, and Pulgar could be viewed as such a player.
