Leeds Player Ratings: Leicester 1 - 3 Leeds. Outstanding performance from Leeds to claim a huge win

Outstanding, and in the end deserved the win.

Leeds United produced an excellent performance to win 3-1 at Leicester City. Harvey Barnes opener was equalised quickly by Stuart Dallas, before second half goals from Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison.

Leicester took the lead through Harvey Barnes following a good one-two, but Leeds equalised within a couple of minutes through an excellent Stuart Dallas goal. Both sides had more chances and each had a goal correctly disallowed for offside - although Kasper Schmeichel was forced into the more difficult saves.

Leicester had all the play in the second half after they switched to a 3-4-3 but it was Leeds who took the lead. Struijk stepped out well from the back to find Raphinha. The Brazilian played a great pass into Patrick Bamford who let it run across his body before picking out the top corner brilliantly.

Leicester then had a lot more pressure, but Leeds made it three with a clinical counter attack. Pascal Struijk headed a free kick away, Dallas brought the ball out and found Klich, who played Bamford through on goal. Patrick Bamford calmly waited for support from Jack Harrison and put it on a plate for the winger to score.

Time now to look at each player and how they performed. As always you can tell me how wrong I am @mightywhitespod or @ThruItAllLUFC on twitter.

STARTING LINEUP

Illan Meslier - Made all the saves he should make, and was good coming off his line to smother things. Goal not his fault. 7.5/10

Luke Ayling - Poor on the first goal, never got near Harvey Barnes as he went half the length of the pitch and then his attempt at blocking the shot was poor. Immediately made up for it by making a good interception and breaking forward to set up the move for the equaliser with a good pass into Bamford. After that initial error he was very good both on the ball and off it. 7.5/10

Liam Cooper - Defended well throughout, especially strong at making blocks which seemed to happen to most of Leicester’s shots. It was his underhit pass that started Leicester’s move for their goal but can forgive that as that resulted in losing the ball in a place that shouldn’t have been too dangerous. 8/10

Pascal Struijk - Stepped out well to play the ball into Raphinha in the build up to Leeds’ second goal. Good header away started the move for the third. Defensively very good throughout and looked comfortable playing on his weaker right side. 8.5/10

Ezgjan Alioski - Made a few good tackles and worked very hard as always. Didn’t see as much of him as Ayling but a good performance. Tough against Ricardo Pereira in the second half and coped well. 7/10

Kalvin Phillips - Maddison was able to have an impact but not as much as he can at his best. Solid in the second half too. 7/10

Raphinha - Quiet for a little while before playing a great one-two with Bamford and forcing a good save. Brilliant first time pass to set up Bamford for Leeds’ second goal. Good throughout and was better defensively than you often see from him. 8/10

Stuart Dallas - Very good run and a calm finish to make it 1-1. Had a brilliant game throughout but going forward and defensively. His play in the build up to Leeds third goal was very good too. Best performance I have seen him have in midfield and up with any he has had in a Leeds shirt. 9/10

Rodrigo - Went off with what looked like a pulled groin after 20 minutes. Nothing major to report in that 20 minutes other than nicking the ball back well on a couple of occasions. 6/10

Jack Harrison - Forced a good save from Kasper Schmeichel with a good first time effort. Excellent work rate throughout and especially in the second half after Leicester switched formation. Topped the performance off with Leeds’ third goal which was an easy finish but he had to sprint a long way to get there. 8/10

Patrick Bamford - Excellently weighted pass to set up Dallas to make it 1-1. Made lots of good runs in behind that were threatening and gave Leeds midfield options. Caused enough problems that Leicester switched to a back three at half-time. Brilliant goal to put Leeds 2-1 up with 20 minutes to go. Unselfish play to set up Harrison for the third. Not at his best against Newcastle United but this was up there for his best performance in a Leeds shirt. 9.5/10

SUBSTITUTES

Mateusz Klich (for Rodrigo, 21mins) - Played some nice passes and was involved a lot once he came on. Second half was tougher but his ball through for Bamford before the third goal was excellent. Balance of the midfield with Dallas and Klich looked good. 7.5/10

Helder Costa (for Raphinha, 80mins) - N/A
