Leeds United have enquired for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha, according to A Bola in Portugal.
Lisbon have been prepared to move him on this window, with Wolves originally coming in for him before backing off, while CSKA Moscow also showed previous interest this summer. The Portuguese media seem adamant that the 25-year old prefers a move to The Premier League, with Lisbon demanding €15 million.
Palhinha is a defensive-minded midfielder who can play centre-back too, which does make him an ideal target with the Josko Gvardiol deal up in the air despite reports of a full agreement.
Palhinha spent last season at Braga in Liga NOS, his second consecutive loan spell there, scoring six and assisting three in 76 appearances for Braga.
The Portuguese youth international is well known for his strong tackling, aerial ability and passing ability, with his versatility making him an ideal fit in Bielsa’s squad. However, this possible move is in the earliest of stages and a concrete offer has not yet been made.
