Leeds United have met verbal agreement with Dinamo Zagreb for the signing of Josko Gvardiol according to TyC Sports in Argentina.

German Garcia Grova from TyC reported on Twitter that The Whites have agreed a deal to bring the 18-year old defender to Elland Road for roughly £18 million.

Dinamo Zagreb were not expecting to sell this window before being “blown away“ by Leeds’ big money offer for a player who is one of Croatia’s best young stars, with Leeds seemingly beating Champions League semi-finalists RB Leipzig to the punch.

Gvardiol is an aggressive defender, plying his trade at centre-back and left-back for the Croatian giants, with just 13 senior appearances in his young career, making this fee even bigger considering how little experience he has in senior football.

Marcelo Bielsa has reportedly been softening on bringing in another centre-back, with Axel Tuanzebe mentioned, but it seems that Leeds have found their man who is reportedly set to sign a five year deal with The Whites.

The tweet goes on to say that “Bielsa, who has not yet signed a new contract, awaits the signing of Rodrigo De Paul,“ possibly suggesting that Bielsa may be holding out on his contract until he is fully satisfied with his squad, but it is unclear if this is what the journalist means or if the contract remark is extra information for readers.
