Leeds United have submitted a £15 million bid for Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell, according to multiple sources.

PA Media’s Nick Mashiter says that terms are yet to be agreed, and that Norwich City want add-ons in addition to the upfront fee.

The 22-year-old is expected to be left out of the Canaries’ matchday squad ahead of their clash against Bournemouth this afternoon (27/09/20).

Championship outfit Norwich, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, have managed to keep the majority of their key players at Carrow Road so far this season - losing only Jamal Lewis to Newcastle United for £15 million.

Daniel Farke’s side are reportedly hoping to gain at least another £15 million fee for Cantwell, who scored six top-flight goals last season, and may ask for as much as £20 million.

Cantwell would provide Marcelo Bielsa with a versatile option, having played across the midfield throughout his 121 career appearances. He has played at left-midfield, but would likely feature in a more central role at Elland Road as a “number 8”.

However, the Norwich academy product has failed to replicate his Premier League form in the eyes of Canaries fans, and there was room for improvement in his performance during the recent 2-2 draw with Preston North End.

The Cantwell link comes as Leeds’ hunt for Rodrigo de Paul reaches an impasse, with Udinese holding out for 35 million euros.
