Leeds United linked with Spurs’ Juan Foyth (again)

For the third straight summer, Leeds United have been linked with Spurs centre-half Juan Foyth.

As Ben White said his goodbye following the end of his loan spell from Brighton, Leeds United are looking into strengthening their centre-back options for next season, especially with Gaetano Berardi unavailable for next season due to injury.

Meanwhile, Juan Foyth has fallen completely out of favour at The New Lane, with Jose Mourinho reportedly looking to move him on from the North London club. The Sun have put two and two together, and perhaps The Whites have too, as they report that a £15 million offer could be made, regardless if Leeds manage to get Ben White.

The 22-year old was signed by Spurs from Estudiantes for £8 million in 2017, but has since decided that he would like to move on from Tottenham in search of more game time. Spurs are also seemingly looking to sell, with the 10-cap Argentine playing just seven matches this season.

Foyth’s ability as a defender is highly regarded, with a strong and aggressive style on and off the ball. But this has sometimes translated to recklessness which has subsequently seen him exposed by pressing teams, most memorably away to Norwich City, his last start for Spurs back in November.

However, Bielsa’s coaching is known to be special, as Foyth said: “Bielsa is one of the best coaches in the world and it would be nice to be coached by him,” and should Bielsa stay at Elland Road for next season, he may be able to filter out this rashness in his well renowned intense pre-season training.
