Leeds United picked up all three points in what was a crucial win for The Whites, as Pablo Hernandez scored a 90th minute goal against his former club.

The game begun with a minute of silence and a minute of applause in memory of Leeds United, England and Ireland legend Jack Charlton.

It was a rather scrappy affair all the way through, with Brewster providing the first sniff of danger on the turn with many bodies around him, sliding the ball into the hands of Meslier.

Leeds’ first chance came just after the half-hour mark, with a long ball over the top had Bamford up against two defenders, The ball broke for him on his right foot but his shot at goal didn’t trouble the keeper on that occasion.

That was really all for what was a stop-start first-half, with Leeds looking to take control at the start of the second 45’, bringing on Hernandez and Alioski at the break.

The best chance of the game arrived on 65 minutes, as a long ball across the pitch from Hernandez to Harrison was hit first time by the winger across goal to Patrick Bamford. His diving header from close range wasn’t quite right on this occasion, heading at the goalkeeper who pulled off a quick save to his left.

Leeds managed to get a tighter and tighter grip on possession as the game went on, but their relentless attacking was not creating enough. That was until the 90th minute, when Costa put Ayling through on the right, whose cut-back picked out Hernandez. The cross was a little behind the Spaniard, who managed to adjust himself and managed to slide the ball in off the inside of the post.

Leeds now look ahead to Thursday, in another crucial match as The Whites look to pick up another three points going into the final three games.
