Leeds Player Ratings: Chelsea 3 - 1 Leeds. Fully deserved win for Chelsea who go top of the table.

Chelsea - the best side we have played this season?

Leeds United took an early lead but eventually fell to a deserved 3-1 defeat in front of 2000 fans at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.

Chelsea started well and Hakim Ziyech and Olivier Giroud both went close in the first two minutes, but it took only four minutes for Leeds to take the lead. Kalvin Phillips played a fantastic through ball for Patrick Bamford who round Edouard Mendy before finishing into the empty net.

Chelsea had been the better side and deservedly got themselves level. Ziyech found an overlapping Reece James down the right and his cross was tucked in at the near post by Giroud. Chelsea had the best of the rest of the half but it was 1-1 at the break.

Chelsea were the better side in the second half too, and took a deserved lead on the hour mark when Kurt Zouma headed home from a corner. Leeds never looked like getting back into it, and Christian Pulisic tapped in from a Timo Werner cross to finish the match in stoppage time.

Time now to look at each player and how they performed. As always you can tell me how wrong I am @mightywhitespod or @ThruItAllLUFC on twitter.

STARTING LINEUP

Luke Ayling - Did ok but unable to be as involved as he would like in either half of the field. Facing up to Werner/Pulisic is hard work and that stopped him from pushing forward as he usually would. 6/10

Robin Koch - Looked injured immediately and only lasted eight minutes. Was rumoured he wouldn’t be fit, clearly those rumours were correct despite him starting. N/A

Liam Cooper - Very good in the first half. Did everything he needed to and got a couple of teammates out of jail. Ok in the second half. 6.5/10

Ezgjan Alioski - Offered very little in either direction today. Looked like a makeshift fullback which he doesn’t when at his best. 5/10

Kalvin Phillips - Wonderful through ball to set up Bamford for the opening goal. Won the ball brilliantly throughout the first half and was probably the best passer in that half too. Less effective in the second half but still Leeds’ best player on the day. 7.5/10

Raphinha - Looked dangerous going forward in the first half but it was noticeable that he struggled to stay with Ben Chilwell when he pushed forward, and Reece James when he switched flanks. The threat he showed in the first half was massively reduced in the second, although he did have one double chance from a corner. 6.5/10

Stuart Dallas - Seemed a yard off the pace for most of the game. Not his best day. 5/10

Mateusz Klich - Popped up in space and as usual was heavily involved in Leeds attacking moves. However, those moves were few and far between. As with everyone, worse in the second half than the first. 6/10

Jack Harrison - Not his most effective game, lost the ball too often. 4.5/10

Patrick Bamford - Great composure to round the keeper and finish to give Leeds an early lead. Outside of that he was kept out of the match by Silva and Zouma. 6.5/10

SUBSTITUTES

Diego Llorente (for Koch, 8mins) - A few early clearances, looked like he let Giroud go a bit too easily for Giroud to make it 1-1. Played an awful ball out of defence straight Pulisic but was rescued by Cooper. Improved after that mistake and made a couple of good interventions, Bore the brunt of the Chelsea fans humour after letting out a high pitched squeal when claiming for a free-kick. 6.5/10

Ian Poveda (for Harrison, 57mins) - Would have won a penalty if he had gone down after a clear foul by Chilwell. Outside of that, plenty of effort but most things he did were unsuccessful. 6/10

Rodrigo (for Alioski, 69mins) - A couple of nice touches but hard to get into the game when he came on. Leeds offered very little in the second half but he looked livelier than most. 6.5/10
