Leeds United are one of the teams interested in Leicester City winger Demarai Gray, and are “ready to step up their pursuit” of the England u21 international according to a report in the Telegraph.

Leeds have been looking at wingers as well as attacking central midfielders and the thought is that Marcelo Bielsa would like a right footed option on the wing to compliment lefties Jack Harrison and Helder Costa.

Gray has been out of favour under Brendan Rodgers despite clearly having some ability, and could be available at a reasonable price as he is in the final year of his contract. It is the fee that would determine whether this deal is worth doing for me.

Gray is direct, likes beating players, and likes a long shot. He has plenty of ability but he is only worth the risk if it is something of a “cut-price” deal. It would be a shame for Ian Poveda who has looked good off the bench recently but Gray could be seen as a step-up for not too much investment. Unless the deal is cheap I would stick with Poveda.
