Leeds United have delivered on their promise to take care of senior defender Gaetano Berardi following his ACL injury last season, as he signs a new one-year deal at Elland Road.

The Swiss signed for Leeds in 2014, but struggled to make a good impression as he became a red card merchant before earning his place in Garry Monk’s side a couple years later. Since then, he’s been a hugely appreciated and loved character in the Leeds squad.
Under Bielsa, Berardi shifted from full-back to centre-back and played his part in last season’s promotion-winning campaign as he made 22 appearances in 2019/2020 while scoring against Salford in the League Cup while also assisting one from his two games in the competition.
Dua gol tambahan dari Gaetano Berardi dan Mateusz Klich pada babak kedua membuat Leeds menambah keunggulan menjadi 3-0 atas tuan rumah Salford City dan berhak melaju ke babak selanjutnya!

Berardi signed a short-term extension to his contract due to the COVID-19 pandemic halting football for several months. The squad’s longest serving player stuck around to see his goal finally be completed as Leeds gained promotion to The Premier League as he featured against Stoke, Luton, Swansea and Barnsley before his unfortunate injury against Derby following confirmation of Leeds’ title victory.
Berardi went away following surgery in the off-season and will return to Thorp Arch to continue his rehab with the Leeds United staff and squad.
