Leeds United have made contact with 2. Bundesliga outfit Hamburger SV regarding the availability of young central defender Stephan Ambrosius according to a report.
Norwegian journalist Jonas Giaever says that the player has attracted plenty of attention recently, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side seemingly among the interested parties.
Hamburg defender Stephan Ambrosius is a player that seemingly has brought a lot of attention. According to what I hear, Leeds United have shown interest and have been in contact with Hamburg regarding the player who can still represent Germany or Ghana⚪️ #Leeds #MOT

The 21-year-old has been a more regular feature for Hamburg’s reserve side in recent seasons, wracking up 32 Regionalliga Nord appearances between 2018 and 2020.
Standing at 6ft, Ambrosius has primarily featured as a centre-back, but has also filled in at full-back and central-defensive midfield occasionally.
HSV put forward a contract offer to Stephan Ambrosius last week according to MOPO, who reference BILD (print edition I guess). His current contract expires next summer, but the club want to extend it until 2024. pic.twitter.com/BsFq3zkU6n

With a year left on his deal, the Hamburg defender could become yet another promising addition to Mark Jackson’s U23s side, which has looked a bit short at centre-back and recently lost Bryce Hosannah to a Bradford City loan move.
Ambrosius is eligible to play for both Germany and Ghana, with his future at international level yet to be decided.
