Italian side Torino have emerged as Leeds United’s competition to sign Manchester City winger, Ian Poveda.
It was previously reported that a move for the England youth international was close, following intensive scouting from Orta and Bielsa before approval from the Leeds head coach.
Italian news outlet Tuttosport reported that Poveda’s agent were supposed to be in talks with Torino on Monday, with the player supposedly spotted at their match against Bologna in Serie A, as relayed by The Yorkshire Evening Post.
Leeds Live, who were the first to report The Whites’ interest in the winger, have followed the reports by saying: “this Italian trip is not understood to be a journey to sign contracts. Poveda continues to weigh up his options.”
Parma are also said to have a long-standing interest, with Leeds still confident in negotiations with City over a transfer structure which would see the 19 year-old arrive at Elland Road permanently this month.
The YEP claim that Victor Orta remains in negotiations with Manchester City over a deal this window, however Football Insider claim that Poveda is due in Leeds for a medical in the coming days, after previous reports expected the deal to be done this week.
Phil Hay has since come along with a little more information on where he stands with Leeds personally, as he is expected to speak to The Whites later in the week, likely in a similar capacity to his visit to Torino.
Leeds expecting him here later in the week. But there evidently is interest from Italy. Let’s see where it goes.

Meanwhile, the Che Adams deal remains hanging in the balance, with a second offer submitted to Southampton after the first was rejected. The date of the offer is unknown, as the YEP report that a response regarding the second offer is yet to be received.
Elia Caprile is expected to complete his move from Chievo, while new reports are flying left, right and centre which will hopefully clear the transfer picture for anxious fans.
