It looks like England will have some hard work to do if they are to defend their title at the Toulon Tournament.

The England U20s were ahead at half-time, but Japan came from behind and won 2-1. Leeds’ Tom Pearce played 73 minutes in the defeat and Jamie Shackleton, who was a last-minute addition, didn’t see the pitch.

England will play Portugal on Tuesday, so perhaps they’ll get a result and still be able to make it past the group stages.
