Another summer, another rumour linking Liverpool’s Ryan Kent with a move to Leeds United. The old hits are sometimes the greatest hits, right?
Kent has been linked with a move to Elland Road the past two summers after a successful year spent at Barnsley FC, although his moves to SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga and Bristol City weren’t nearly as successful. He played 44 times in the Championship for Barnsley, scoring three goals and chipping in three assists in the 2017-17 season. His time in Germany was a disappointment, as he only appeared six times for Freiburg, scoring no goals. He was recalled and sent to Bristol City for the remainder of the 2017-18 season, where he appeared only 10 times, once again without a goal.

Leeds were thought to be in the running to land him last summer after his time at Bristol City, when his former manager Paul Heckingbottom was in charge at Elland Road, but he ended up going on loan to Rangers in Scotland to work with former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, the manager at the Glasgow side. He scored six goals and added six assists in 23 Scottish Premier League appearances last season, having a breakthrough season after what ended up being a wasted season for the young winger.
So Kent has once again been linked to a move to Leeds. The 22 year-old is reportedly in demand, as other clubs have once again been queuing up for his services. Rangers want to take him back on loan, but it might all come down to what Liverpool think is best for the player and for his value, as he seems far away from the Liverpool first team at this point in time.
Will Leeds finally land Kent? And if they do, will he live up to the promise he showed at Barnsley? Time will tell.
