The rise of Jamie Shackleton continues.
| Well done to @jamieshackk who gets his first international call up, as the @England U20s look to retain the @TournoiMRevello title
— Leeds United (@LUFC) May 30, 2019
For the third straight year, Leeds will send at least one player with the England U20s to the Maurice Revello (formerly Toulon) Tournament in France, and he’ll be joined by Tom Pearce, who along with Ronaldo Vieira, went last year.
Per the club’s official website:
After a breakthrough season, which saw the 19 year old make his professional debut against Derby last August, and feature 24 times for the Whites, Shackleton joined up with the Young Lions this week for their training camp.
The tournament in Toulon marks Shackleton’s first international call up, and he’ll be joined by fellow Leeds United player Tom Pearce in the squad, who lifted the trophy last year with England.
Paul Simpson’s side face their first test on Saturday 1st June against Japan, before taking on their counterparts from Portugal and Chile over the next week, as they look to progress from Group A.
It’s good to see the club’s youth get recognized and given a chance to shine in international tournaments.
