Well, this is still Leeds and nothing is ever easy, is it?
Shame we didn’t get James - we’ll be fine - but it’s gonna be weird for him going back. Head elsewhere, contract running down, and you can’t imagine he’ll sign a new one. In reneging on this deal, they’ve essentially rubber stamped his departure in the summer. #LUFC— The Square Ball (@TheSquareBall) January 31, 2019
Swansea City and Leeds had a deal all worked out, only for a last-minute negotiation to go sour, allegedly over the timing of a fee payment. It’s disappointing for the deal to get to this point, but it’s done now.
James was reportedly upset, as he had said he wanted to go to Leeds, only for the deal to be struck down at the last minute. Neither club is very happy with each other, as Leeds missed out on a transfer target, reportedly because Swansea refused to communicate, and Swansea is upset because they almost lost a young player and now his head has been turned and likely will be upset over the whole thing.
Leeds will move on, and we’ll see what happens. 17 more games, with 29 in the bag. Top of the table. It’s gonna be a ride.
