Jack Clarke has impressed in his brief time in the first team at Leeds, showing that he might be the next great player from the Leeds Academy. It seems Premier League clubs are starting to circle, but the club has said he won’t be sold, at least not in this window. Do Leeds need to get promotion to hang onto Clarke?

Clarke has all the potential to be playing at a high level for years to come, and while he’s probably not ready to get into the starting XI of a Premier League club right now, he’s not exactly far away from that level.

Given the finances at the Championship level, it would be impossible for Leeds to compete with any Premier League club in terms of wages. Andrea Radrizzani and the board at Leeds would almost certainly also be given a transfer offer they could not refuse.

If Leeds are to hang on to Clarke, they’ll need to be promoted this year. If anything the recent history has shown, it’s that Leeds owners will eventually be forced into player sales, no matter the intentions. Let’s just hope that Clarke will be playing at Elland Road in a home kit for many years to come.
