Leeds have signed yet another Academy player to a professional contract.

Midfielder Jack Jenkins was the latest player to sign a contract with the club. Per the club’s official website:

The 17-year-old midfielder has put pen to paper on a deal which runs until the summer of 2021.

Jenkins has been a regular for the Under-18s throughout the current campaign, helping them to the top of the Professional Development League North and was also part of the side last season which won the division.

He will now be looking to follow in the footsteps of Jack Clarke, Leif Davis and Jamie Shackleton who have all broken into the first team from the Academy in recent months.

The most remarkable part of Marcelo Bielsa’s revolution at the club hasn’t been the tactics or the results, but it’s been what the club has been able to do with existing players and with the significant impact of youth players coming up to play vital roles in real matches. The Academy at Leeds is an absolute treasure, and Bielsa has been critical in developing these players who will form the core of the team for years to come.
