Morning Leeds-in for 14 January: Casilla’s transfer won’t have a fee, but he still won’t be free

Well, landing a goalkeeper from Real Madrid won’t be cheap. Shocking, I know.

While the deal itself sounds like it won’t have an actual transfer fee, Leeds will be buying out the contract for Kiko Casilla, and he’s making somewhere in the neighbourhood of greater than £50,000 a week. Expensive, yes, but considering there are approximately 16 weeks left in the season, the deal will only cost Leeds £800,000 for the rest of the season, which is still cheaper than it would have cost to bring in Karl Darlow for £4 million. So, yes, the wage will be high, but it will be cheaper in the long run.

And if Leeds stay top of the league? Priceless.

On to the links.
