Luke Ayling made the EFL team of the week after scoring his first goal for Leeds United. Ayling scored the opening goal in the match against Rotherham United, helping Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa reach a club record by winning his first four matches in charge of the club in all competitions.

Luke Ayling’s goal was on a diving header, and after some confusion, it was ruled that the ball did completely off the line despite some objections from Rotherham. All’s well that ends well, so the goal counted and Leeds never looked back as Kemar Roofe added an insurance goal a little while later. Despite Rotherham holding firm in the first half, Leeds were able to keep the clean sheet and walk away 2-0 victors at home.
Joing Ayling in the EFL team sheet were goalkeeper Ben Alnwick of Bolton Wanderers; defenders Bryan Oviedo of Sunderland, Kyle McFadzean of Burton Albion, and Leon Legge of Port Vale; midfielders Siriki Dembele of Peterborough United, Shaun Williams of Millwall, Harvey Barnes and Matt Phillips of West Bromwich Albion; and strikers Alex Fisher of Yeovil Town and Jamal Lowe of Portsmouth.
