Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe aren’t letting this whole “competition” thing go to their head.
Bamford has been cheering Roofe on from the bench, even if it means that Roofe’s hot streak has meant that Bamford has only gotten one start since his big-money move from Middlesbrough.

Kemar Roofe had this to say about the competition with Bamford and how the team is responding under Marcelo Bielsa:
It’s healthy competition, there’s nothing bad. I got words from Patrick before the game – ‘be more selfish’ – and people say we’re meant to be competing against each other. He wants me to score.
That’s the same with everybody. We just want to win games as a squad. There’s no pressure because if I don’t score someone else will score. It’s ‘as long as we win’
I’m just trying to do my bit for the team. I’ve watched games back and there are areas where I’m disappointed, where I can improve.
The good thing is that with the gaffer and coaching staff, they put clips together of our performances and tell us where we are going wrong. They also show you where you’re doing well.
Saying things like “we just want to win games as a squad” is exactly what you’d expect a footballer to say, but in this case, it does seem like the whole team is putting “side before self” and as long as the results keep coming, the team will hold together.
