Tomas Kalas has played for multiple clubs including Vitesse in the Netherlands, FC Köln in the Bundesliga plus loan spells with Middlesbrough and Fulham in the Championship. Kalas was an integral part of Fulham’s last couple of seasons, including last season’s play-off winning campaign, and now Chelsea have made him available for a permanent transfer.
It’s no secret that Leeds United need to toughen up their defence, Behind Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper you have Conor Shaugnessy and Laurens De Bock. It’s clear that the Whites need more support in the centre of defence, and Tomas Kalas could be the perfect man to bolster the Leeds defence in a big way. It’s late in the window and Leeds still need to strengthen before the start of the season and Kalas has everything that Leeds need; experience but still plenty of seasons ahead of him; he knows what it takes to reach the Premier League and over that time has proven how good a defender he is. The Czech is fantastic at reading the game and intercepting the ball, pressuring and winning the ball is a big part of his game. He always looks to get the ball out to the midfield as quickly as possible which is also a big part of how Bielsa likes his defence to operate quickly and efficiently. He gets stuck in when he has to which is certainly something that Leeds fans love in a defender.

Kalas will cost Leeds around £10 million and the club have until the 9th of August to wrap-up a deal for the 25 year old. Should a deal not be complete by the deadline, Leeds can agree a loan deal and then complete a permanent deal in January, so there is plenty of time to bring Kalas into Leeds.
