Leeds United defender Paudie O’Connor has joined League One Blackpool FC on a year-long loan move. The 20 year-old central defender from Limerick in the Republic of Ireland started out his career in the League of Ireland before moving to England.

O’Connor was on trial at the club last March, and was awarded a contract. He then spent part of the preseason with the first team, only to go back to the U23s. He captained the U23s and after injuries and suspension ravaged the first team, he was called up and played in four matches at the end of the season, garnering rave reviews for his performances.

O’Connor signed a new contract at the club and was widely expected to go out on loan to gain experience, as the club looks to bring in some more experienced players to work with new manager Marcelo Bielsa.
So O’Connor goes to Blackpool on loan. Hopefully the defender can grow and come back a solid player that will challenge for the first team next season.
