Well, these links were bound to start happening. It’s silly season after all.
Ronaldo Vieira is an England U20 player who has starred at two straight Toulon Tournaments, and despite having a rough time last season, has starred for Leeds United for two seasons as a teenager.

Serie A team Sampdoria is reportedly interested in trying to pry Vieira out of Leeds, but it would be very unlikely. While Sampdoria could offer Serie A football, and perhaps higher wages, Vieira has the chance to stay at Leeds and gun for promotion under Marcelo Bielsa. It’s been said that Sampdoria has been tracking Vieira for some time.
Cardiff City was linked with a potential move for Vieira earlier this month, but those links were dismissed. Vieira has been called the “jewel of the crown” of the Leeds Academy, and so any offer for him would have to be an eye-popping number, something that Sampdoria would not necessarily be able to afford, as the lure of Premier League wages and transfer fees have, so far, not been able to tempt either Leeds or Vieira into a move.
The reports also say that Sampdoria will be interested in making a move for Vieira in the next few weeks. However, the English transfer window closes much sooner than the Italian window, so Leeds would have to find a replacement in a very short amount of time, which makes the move seem even more unlikely. And that is not taking into account the issue of Vieira’s contract that he signed last summer, which extends for another three years.
Bielsa has reportedly been reluctant to let any key player go, as Samu Saiz was reportedly linked with a big money move back to La Liga, only for the manager reportedly put an end to selling any player that is in his plans at this point in time.
So unless Sampdoria come with an offer in excess of £15 million, which they won’t, don’t expect to see Vieira go anywhere.
