Leeds drew 1-1 with National League North York City in a friendly played at Bootham Crescent yesterday. And yes, the result wasn’t ideal, but it’s preseason, right?

The squad looks a little thin at the moment, but at least this preseason match gave some of the younger players a chance to shine. Sam Dalby scored and Hugo Diaz looked comfortable in a back three with the ball at his feet.

For the non-youth players that got a chance to play, Mateusz Klich was one of the stand-out performers, as was Lewis Baker, but that was to be expected. Tom Pearce showed why his best position might be as a wing-back rather than as a fullback, and we got a look at Laurens De Bock playing as a central defender.

Marcelo Bielsa probably got a good idea of what U23s can make the step up to the first team this season, and that’s all that matters in preseason.

On to the links.
