Leeds United played against Middlesbrough tonight. They were crap, got beat 3-0, and wouldn’t have scored if the match had been 20 hours long.
Time now to look at each player and how they performed. As always you can tell me how wrong I am @mightywhitespod or @ThruItAllLUFC on twitter.
STARTING LINE-UP
Felix Wiedwald - My patience has officially left me. I still think he is better than Andy Lonergan but neither goalkeeper should be anywhere near the Championship. Looked terrible under every cross where there was anyone within 5 yards of him, and for Patrick Bamford’s second goal he allowed a shot that was almost straight at him to beat him. His kicking was awful, particularly on backpasses, and he inspires such a lack of confidence that you are waiting on him to screw up.
Seriously hope this is Felix Wiedwald’s last game in a Leeds United shirt.

Enough is enough. #LUFC @LUFC
One defence, why do we let an attacker stand in front of Wiedwald on every corner, with no defender marking said attacker. We know he is shit at coming for the ball, why make it harder for him? 3/10
Wiedwald genuinely looks about as confident in goal as I would if I got plucked from the crowd to play on Wednesday night. #lufc

Gaetano Berardi - By the standards of tonight did alright. Most of the problems in the first half came from Adama Traore (who should have been suspended but there were bigger issues) running at our midfield and Anita at left-back. Traore was less effective second half when Anita and Berardi swapped sides. Made a few tackles and his passing was ok. Hard to give a Man of the Match after watching that but Berardi probably gets second place and the best of our starting 11. 5.5/10
Berardi only one who looks bothered tonight. Piss poor this #lufc

Pontus Jansson - Started ok with some good defensive clearances and good positioning to intercept a few crosses. Got done on the first goal by Bamford’s movement and did not look comfortable for the rest of the game. Could have had 2 or 3 penalties for fouls by Daniel Ayala on him at corners. 5/10
Jansson has looked like a kid that has been told that Xmas is cancelled for half of this game and honestly, I feel his pain #LUFC

Liam Cooper - Made one excellent tackle on Bamford when last man but outside of that nothing great to talk about. Joined the majority of the team in looking scared when players ran at him (Traore in particular). Was probably as good as Jansson minus the threat in the opposition box at set-pieces. 5/10
Vernon Anita - Really not great, when players with pace go at him he looks terrified. Plays like a midfielder playing at full-back. Not the worst but poor. 4.5/10
Vurnon Anita dealt with Adama Traore tonight how I imagine I would handle Lionel Messi.

Poor bastard didn't stand a chance. #UTB #LUFC
Eunan O’Kane - Before the match, no-one could believe he was starting ahead of Adam Forshaw. After the match, everyone had doubled down on that opinion. No tackles, allowing the game to completely pass him by. Both starting CMs were completely anonymous but on current form O’Kane wants to be a long way from the starting line-up. Only passes he completes are safe ones sideways or backwards, no threat of him creating anything, nothing like the player he was at the start of the season. 3.5/10
O’Kane starting ahead of Forshaw Heckingbottom isn’t going to last if he doesn’t realise that Anita, O’Kane and Wiedwald should not be starting unless we have no choice #lufc

Kalvin Phillips - Hooked off at half-time. Had a poor game, but thought he was better than O’Kane. Gave the ball away on fewer occasions than the Ireland international. The way he and O’Kane allowed runners to go past them so easily was very poor. 4/10
One thing for sure is we can’t continue with Phillips & O’Kane as a midfield pairing

Ezgjan Alioski - Very quiet game. Wasn’t a shock when he was taken off at half-time. Pretty anonymous performance. 4/10
Samu Saiz - Bad day at the office for the best player in the team. Held on to the ball too long a few times but when the players around you are doing so little I guess that is what happens. Very quiet and visibly frustrated throughout the match. Still one of the more threatening performers for Leeds but nowhere close to his standards. Looked very petulant at times as well. 5/10
Saiz has been shocking tonight slowing down our attack more than contributing anything. He has a serious attitude problem too, after all that’s occurred recently it’s clear he won’t learn from his mistakes. A talent but he’s not #lufc, diving, card waving.

Stuart Dallas - Worked hard but never able to be much of a threat going forward today. Forgot he was playing at times. 4.5/10
Dallas is totally ineffective #lufc
— Mr B (@Therealstevieb) March 2, 2018
Pierre-Michel Lasogga - No threat from him but a team performance like this was never going to allow a lone striker to get into the game. Isolated up top and unable to get into many good areas. Poor performance but not really his fault. 5/10
Feel for lasogga I mean he could have stayed at home in his slippers & dressing gown nice & warm and we wouldn’t have know the difference & it’s not even his fault #lufc #mot

SUBSTITUTES
Adam Forshaw (for Alioski, HT) - Why the hell wasn’t he starting? Has been our best CM since he joined and saw more of it today despite the teams overall crap performance. Made a few tackles, passed the ball fairly well, always wanted the ball. Man of the Match despite only playing 45 mins. 6.5/10
Heckingbottom said he left out Forshaw because he felt he should reward the team who started against Brentford. Didn't pay off. #lufc
— Phil Hay (@PhilHayYEP) March 2, 2018
Ronaldo Vieira (For Phillips, HT) - Phillips went off and Vieira came on. Not much between them really, Vieira was slightly the better of the two. 4.5/10
Caleb Ekuban (For O’Kane, 68mins) - A couple of decent runs in behind but never looked like scoring. Tried hard and found a man on the rare occasion he was able to get on the ball. Doesn’t look a goal threat. 5/10
God knows why Ekuban is held in such high regard with our fans, he’s had injury problems but the rest of the time he has done sweet FA, another 1 to thank Orta for #lufc
