Going into the match against Middlesbrough that will (hopefully) take place on Friday, Leeds retweeted a StatZone card with numbers comparing Britt Assombalonga and Pierre-Michel Lasogga.
So who is better?
Ahead of the game between #Boro and #LUFC on Friday night, we compare the season stats of strikers Britt Assombalonga and Pierre-Michel Lasogga. #EFL #MOT @MultiflightUK pic.twitter.com/4nZST2wkwx

Assombalonga has scored more goals, but he’s also played more minutes. In terms of goals/minute Lasogga has scored a goal every 149 minutes he’s been on the pitch, whereas Assombalonga has scored a goal every 210 minutes he’s been on the pitch. Lasogga has also added in three assists and has more passes per game, better shooting accuracy, and has been offsides less. He hasn’t won as many duels, but again, more “per minute” than Assombalonga.
Assombalonga cost Middlesbrough £15 million last summer, as the relegated side had a Premier League warchest full of money and used a good chunk of it on strikers. Not only did they spend all that money to pry Assombalonga from Nottingham Forest, they also spent over £6 million on Ashley Fletcher, who’s since gone out on loan to Sunderland after Tony Pulis took over for Garry Monk last autumn.
So is Lasogga better? The stats say he is, but maybe watching the two of them play head to head will be the best way to tell. We’ll see on Friday.
