Getafe has agreed to a loan deal that will start in January, with a permanent deal in the works for the summer.
The club’s official website said:
Leeds United can confirm that a deal has been agreed for Samuel Saiz to join Getafe CF on loan from 1st January 2019, with a view to a permanent move in the summer window.
Saiz travelled to Spain this weekend for a medical and he will remain overseas with his family until the loan spell commences.
We wish Samuel well for the rest of the season and beyond.
There has been plenty of speculation about this move being because of family reasons, issues that won’t be mentioned here. However, if any of it is true then it is perfectly understandable why Saiz would want to go back home to Spain.
It’s unfortunate that Saiz’s time at the club ended this way, but such is football. Leeds will carry on, and while it’s not ideal to lose one of you best players in the middle of promotion push, it’s still early enough where Leeds can look at their options in the January transfer window if Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta, the club’s director of football, decides that an addition is necessary.
As the club said, all the best to Saiz now and in the future. We’ll always have that hat trick against Port Vale in the League Cup on his debut.
