Did Josh Vela accidentally reveal he’s going to Leeds United?

Bolton Wanderers have been struggling in the table this season after gaining automatic promotion back to the Championship on their first try last season. Recently, however, they’ve been on a bit of a hot streak, winning three of their last four matches, including two wins against playoff hopefuls Cardiff City and Sheffield United.

However, given the state of the finances at the club, it’s not surprising that a few of their better players would be linked with big-money moves to other clubs. Gary Madine has been linked with a move to Sunderland, and 24 year-old midfielder Josh Vela has been linked with a move to either Leeds United or Sunderland as well.

However, Vela might have spilled the beans on his transfer destination, as it appeared that he “liked” a Tweet linking him with a move to Leeds United. Leeds have been seeking reinforcements of late in order to keep the team in line for the playoffs. And while Leeds have made a deal for a central midfielder already, Japan national team member Yosuke Ideguchi, they’ve had to send him on loan to Leeds United’s partner club in La Liga 2, Cultural Leonesa, because of work permit issues.

Does this mean he’s headed to Leeds? Our friends at Lion of Vienna Suite think that Vela might just be trolling Twitter with the constant “links” sending him away from the Macron Stadium, or maybe Leeds have met the rumoured £3.5 million asking price.

Vela would be a welcome addition to the Leeds midfield, and with former FC Twente player Mateusz Klich looking less and less likely to be in the future plans of the Leeds head coach Thomas Christiansen, Leeds could be looking for another central midfielder. And while £3.5 million might seem a little steep for a Championship midfielder when Leeds already have Republic of Ireland international Eunan O’Kane and two homegrown starlets in Ronaldo Vieira and Kalvin Phillips, in these crazy times, it’s not a bad price for an established player.

So if Vela ends up at Elland Road in the near future, don’t be surprised. Of course, with the way that rumours spread on Twitter, it could all just be someone trolling for attention.
