Our friends over at Roker Report first brought you the news on Monday, and it now appears that a deal will get done for Andy Lonergan’s departure. He is set to join up with former manager Kit Symons at Sunderland. Symons, who is currently part of the backroom staff at the Stadium of Light, was the manager at Fulham when Lonergan played there. Lonergan looks to be departing Leeds for the second time, and the former Wolverhampton and Bolton Wanderers keeper is apparently on his way to Wearside.
It’s not a big deal for Leeds. Lonergan gave up any chance he ever had to win the starting keeper job on a permanent basis after his performance against Brentford, and despite his issues, Felix Wiedwald has been pretty solid in net for Leeds this season.
