The loanee from Hamburger SV has been an enigma for Leeds this season. After he first joined, he looked like the steal of the century. He had a brilliant debut for the club against Burton Albion, and Leeds were cruising.
However after a few weeks, something seemed off. Against Reading FC, he looked listless and lazy. He played great against Bristol City in the win at Ashton Gate, but then returned to poor performances again, finally getting hauled off at half-time against Brentford. This match today marked his first start in the Championship since November.
He started out this match by not connecting on a couple shots that would seemed simple for a player with his pedigree, but then in the second half he turned it on. His second goal is something that Leeds fans have been waiting to see from him, a spectacular finish from some good build-up play.
If Lasogga can play like he did in the second half the rest of the season, Leeds will have a very good chance at getting in the playoffs. Let’s hope, for everyone’s sake, that he keeps playing like he did today, because we all love that Lasogga.
