Morning Leeds-in for 19 January: Leeds appear to be gearing up for a promotion push

Thomas Christiansen’s team needs depth, and it looks like he’ll be getting it after all

Could the strengthening of the squad mean that Leeds is gearing up for a promotion push?

Earlier in the transfer window, it seemed that Leeds were taking a “wait and see” approach to the market, looking to remain somewhat static. However, with the team missing Samu Saiz for another five weeks, Eunan O’Kane out for three weeks and, Ronaldo Vieira still recovering from injury, the team is looking pretty threadbare in midfield. And while Leeds have tread water in the past couple weeks and sit in seventh place, fourth place Aston Villa is still only four points away. This is as good a chance as Leeds have had for promotion as they’ve had in years, and so perhaps this is the time to strengthen the squad and gear up for a chance to see what happens in the playoffs.
