Off of the back of an impressive win in their first match at Elland Road, Leeds United Ladies take on Nottingham Forest Ladies in the Women’s version of the FA Cup, the FA WPL Cup.

Nottingham Forest Ladies will be a difficult opponent, as they play in the division above LULFC, the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division. Forest Ladies are undefeated so far this season, with both a win and a draw, giving them four points and they sit in 4th place in the table. They have beat Guiseley Vixens 1-0 at home and drawn with Bradford City Ladies 0-0 away, so they’ve already played a couple of other teams from West Yorkshire already this season.

Leeds United Ladies go into the match after winning 1-0 at home in front of over 800 fans against Chester Le Street. LULFC sit in 6th place in the table with three points after two games, after losing away at Bolton Wanderers Ladies 3-1 on the opening day of the season at Bolton.

Nottingham Forest have not allowed a single goal in competitive fixtures so far this season so if Leeds are going to get a result tomorrow, they will need to concentrate on scoring goals. Leeds did well against Chester Le Street and were unlucky to have an early goal from Liuli Dyson flagged for offsides, although she did get the Ladies on the board in the 60th minute to put the visitors away.

Look for the Leeds United Ladies captain, midfielder Helen Wagstaff, to continue her good form in the match against the Forest Ladies as she was named the player of the match for Leeds.

Forest Ladies have had their single goal scored so far this season by striker Hazzana Parnell, but the real stars so far have been the defence, keeping two straight clean sheets in the league, and they will be looking to extend their streak against Leeds.

Leeds ran away as 2-0 victors last week when the men’s first teams played at the City Ground, so will the Ladies pull off a famous upset against the Forest Ladies this Sunday? Stop on by, with tickets only £3 for adults and £1.50 for children, it’s a great value. The teams will play at Basford United FC, Greenwich Avenue, Nottingham NG6 0LD at the Mill Street Recreation Ground. Don’t hesitate to contact either club for more information on directions to the Ground. ALAW
