Rather than just simply post our predictions on the upcoming seasons and toss them aside a month later after the season blows up whatever we thought we knew about football, we at Through It All Together thought we’d do something a little different. Okay, I thought it up, but whatever.
Anyway, I thought it might be fun to challenge our friends over at SBNation’s West Ham United blog for a prediction contest. All of the bloggers (well, those that could be bothered to send me something at least) from both blogs put pen to paper, thought long and hard, looked into crystal balls, threw darts at walls, etc., and came up with sure-to-be-wrong predictions of which teams will get into the Champions League/ European places and relegated from the Premier League. We also put down who would be promoted and relegated from the Football League, covering the Championship, League One and League Two.
The losing blog manager, either Jonathan or myself, will have to do something terrible like wear a NY Red Bulls shirt or something similar.
Anyway, without further ado here are the picks.

Premier League:
Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton
Relegation:
Watford, Burnley, Huddersfield Town
Yep I’m writing off Huddersfield, I’ve become a cliche, but I hope they surprise me. Watford have been firing managers at the end of every season and it looks like this policy will finally unravel.
I also think the Manchester clubs will be battling it out at the top of the Premier League, Chelsea will struggle to replace Costa’s goals. They might not even have the same manager at the end of the season.
Championship Promotion:
Reading, Middlesbrough, Leeds [via playoff]
Relegation:
Burton Albion, Millwall, Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest have been a terribly run club for many years and sadly I think this will cause them to drop down to League One once more. As a proud Nottingham resident for four years this fills me with dread as the city loves football.
League One Promotion:
Bradford City, Blackburn Rovers, AFC Wimbeldon [via playoff]
Relegation:
Plymouth Argyle, Gillingham, Bury, Shrewsbury Town
I’d love to see Plymouth maintain their place in League One, but history suggests they won’t be able to hack it. Blackburn are another proud club that don’t deserve to be in the third-tier of English football. I think they could get themselves sorted and give their fans something to cheer about for once!
League Two Promotion:
Coventry City, Swindon Town, Luton Town, Notts County [via playoff]
Relegation:
Newport County, Forest Green Rovers
League Two is nothing without Leyton Orient, I predict they will make a surging run up the National League and regain their place back in the Football League - although that might be my heart talking.
I think Notts County will surprise a lot of people this season and under the stewardship of Kevin Nolan will make a playoff run. I think he is the man to bring glory back to County and give that half of Nottingham something to cheer about!
