When Leeds United brought in a million midfielders during the course of the transfer window, it was always in the back of fans’ heads that someone has to go. Toumani Diagouraga, who many thought would be the first to go, is still listed as a Leeds United player. Per reports, it looks as if Liam Bridcutt will be the first player out of Elland Road. The Daily Mail and Nottingham Post report that last years captain is in further talks to finalize a move to Nottingham Forest, who also happen to be our next opponents.
Liam Bridcutt served as captain last season, but many Leeds fans will remember the abysmal run of form he had the last couple of games as the season winded down. This year, Brids has played only once, coming on as a sub in the Whites’ cup match against Port Vale. He was also on the bench against Fulham but saw no action. However, our Lord and Savior Thomas Christiansen says that Bridcutt is still a part of his plans. TC likes Bridcutt for his character in training and on and off the pitch and has stated that when he’s in the starting XI, he’s the captain.
If Liam wants to go and a price is fair, I’d pull the trigger. He brought an edge of toughness when he played, but for Ronaldo Vieira and Kalvin Phillips’s sake, someone has to go. I’d have to think that it’d be very awkward if the two clubs get a deal done before the game on Saturday. I’m not going to sit here and try to seem like I follow a lot of Forest footy, but based off of transfermarkt.com, Liam would be in the starting XI for Forest. I’d imagine that it’d be like breaking up with your significant other after only a year, only to run into her a couple days later with someone new.
