Leeds United away to newly promoted Bolton Wanderers on the opening day of the season has a familiar sound to it, but this is the ladies in the Premier League. Let’s just hope they can perform as well as their male counterparts did.
Leeds see lots of new faces in the squad mixed in with players that were heavily involved with the team last season, Bolton will be a complete unknown as they were promoted from the very competitive North West Regional League.
Leeds saw ups and downs through the testing pre-season programme and the general opinions was that they played well in patches but looked vulnerable at times, but with most of the squad available let’s hope they can develop some consistency in their game. They will need to start the season well and get some points on the board as most of the teams in the league have strengthened and if they want to be anywhere close to getting promotion every point counts.
The reserves are also in action against Bradford City reserves, this one will be played at Batley Sports and Tennis centre on the artificial pitch; kick off at 14:00. After some poor results from the reserves they have now got most of their players back and this should be a good reflection of their level and if they will be able to hold their own in the reserve league.
Good luck to both sides, here’s hoping for a couple of good performances and now, more importantly, some points on the board.
