With fullback Charlie Taylor now officially a player from the past, with the defender moving on to Burnley this week, Leeds have only one choice but to move forward. Now, Christiansen and company are searching for a new left-back, and Leeds United have turned their eyes towards Manchester United youngster Cameron Borthwick-Jackson as Charlie Taylor’s replacement.
The current 20 year old and England U20 International is a product of the Manchester United Academy. CBJ joined the Manchester United youth academy all the way back in 2003, and he made his senior debut for Manchester United in 2015.
Since then, Borthwick-Jackson was named Manchester United’s Under 21 player of the season for 2016, and not long after that he was given a new long term contract that would see him stay at Man Utd until 2020.
The fullback did have some pundits a little flustered, as he spent all of last season on loan to Wolves, but it was a terrible decision. CBJ only made 7 total appearances for them, and it looked as though his time with Wolverhampton was a failure. Since then, he has been linked with a move to Leeds.

If Christiansen is in fact interested, then this is a player we need to buy. CBJ should only cost £6 million at the most, and I think that is a pretty good fee to pay even with all of his potential. With needing a new left-back, I think Cameron Borthwick-Jackson perfectly fits the mold, and his style of play will not only benefit himself but it will make the team better as a whole.
The only other player we have whose primary position is left-back is Tyler Denton, but I do not expect we could play him there the whole season. Berardi, Anita, and Cooper could all service in as a left-back but not for huge amounts of time during the season, they are all better paying their normal positions. A left-back addition is imminent for the Whites, and if Camerom Borthwick-Jackson is who they want, then we need to go out and snap him up. It will show ambition and intent, and it will be a move that benefits both sides.
Is Cameron Borthwick-Jackson worth it to you? If not, who would you want to be our new left-back for this season?
