Bologna’s Filip Helander and Leeds United have been flirting for quite some time now. Around a month ago rumors started to swirl, linking the Whites to the Swedish international. Just like all rumors do, Helander’s name quietly died out as Leeds continued to bring in new faces. Well, according to Italian newspaper Courier di Bologna, the Whites haven’t stopped thinking about Helander since last month, and a move now may come to fruition. I Rossoblu are now open to selling the defender if Leeds offer a more attractive bid than their previous one, which was claimed to be around £3.6million. We’ve covered Helander on here before, so I’ll just give you a quick summary of the player.
- 24-year-old
- Swedish
- Played with Pontus Jansson at Malmo
- Only joined Bologna on a permanent deal at the end of last season, could already be on the move
- Has international experience too

Leeds recently shored up their CB woes by bringing in Matthew Pennington from Everton on loan. And while that’s a big step in the right direction, depth is still a concern at that position. Not to mention left-back, but I’ve happily come to terms that Gaetano Berardi will start on the left side, even though he’s naturally a right-back. We have Charlie Taylor money now, so let's work on bringing in another CB. Will that be Helander? I’d welcome it. Only time will Ikea opens up shop in the middle of our defense.
