At least this striker has a Getty Image library

Just hours after Leeds United signed striker Caleb Ekuban did it seem the Whites began to be linked with a loan move for Chelsea striker Ike Ugbo. Now, reports claim that the Blues have ok’d the loan move and Ugbo could be headed to Leeds shortly.

That doesn’t mean there isn’t outside interest though. Wolverhampton, Bristol City, and Vitesse are all keen on bringing Ugbo on loan.

Ugbo is one of Chelsea’s many bright young talents. He has had a splendid career in the youth ranks, netting 60 goals over the course of the last 3 seasons.

Could Ike Ugbo be replacing Marcus Antonsson?

You would think that after signing Caleb Ekuban, Leeds United wouldn’t make a move for another striker. If this move does go through, I think it’s a good indicator that Thomas Christiansen isn’t entirely confident in Ekuban being a success here and wants to have Ugbo there as a backup. Maybe Leeds sell Marcus Antonsson and Ugbo has a sort of stopgap role where he gives us a year to scout him for a permanent deal or gives us time to find a replacement. As far as I’m concerned, Ike Ugbo isn’t a centre back, so I don’t really care for the transfer.
