The Spanish Inquisition of Leeds United continues, as the Whites are reportedly set to sign Rayo Vallecano midfielder Alejandro Machuca. Los Franjirrojos have reportedly already given permission for Machuca to fly into England to finish the move.

A 19-year-old who played for Rayo’s youth team, Machuca will most likely be looking at that same role at Leeds United. Machuca has been in Rayo Vallecano’s youth system since 2014/15. Prior to that, he was a player in Real Madrid’s academy.

Media Base Sports give him high praise:

This is a move for the future. I’m all for signing Machuca. Our u23’s last season didn’t have a good season, and revamping the team with young players is good. We’ve seen the potential talent in Paudie O’Connor and Madger Gomes (among others) this preseason. However, I’m interested in how effective Thomas Christiansen’s revolutionary future 2-7-1 formation when we make it back into the Premier League. Formations are changing constantly, with three in the back becoming more and more popular. Leeds have plenty of talent in the midfield, and not enough depth at centre-back, so we want royalties if/when we see 7 midfielders running out on the field in 2-3 years.

How do YOU feel about signing another 19-year-old midfielder? What position would you like to see be brought in next? Let us know in the comments
