Leeds United finally own their home again.
Leeds United announced today that they have purchased Elland Road in a buy-back deal from the previous owners Teak Commercial Limited. The club was forced to sell the ground back in 2004 during the financial meltdown that was created by the team’s ownership and relegation from the Premier League.

Andrea Radrizzani, speaking with the club’s official website, leedsunited.com, had this to say:
“Today is an important day in our history and a proud day for me and my team.
When I met with both management and supporters during my first few months at the club, the purchase of Elland Road was very high on their list of priorities and I'm delighted to be able to announce that we have completed that process today.”
Leader of Leeds City Council, Councillor Judith Blake, again as quoted by the club’s webstite, said:
“It is fantastic news that the club have confirmed the buy-back of Elland Road Stadium.
“This is an extremely positive step in the right direction for everyone associated with Leeds United and especially the club’s tremendous and loyal fans.
“As we prepare for the new season to begin in August, I very much welcome the intent being shown by Andrea to move the club forward with real purpose and ambition.”
As we noted before, this is a fantastic deal by the club, as the rent and buy-back clause are both set to rise yearly. In addition to the investments being done to the first team, with transfers such as Mateusz Klich from FC Twente, and in the youth system at Leeds, with the hiring of Ivan Bravo and signing of former Liverpool Academy player Madger Gomes, Andrea Radrizzani is literally putting his money where his mouth is, investing in the future of the club. It’s hard to believe it, but Radrizzani is running Leeds like an actual football club right now.
This is brilliant news for Leeds United fans all over the world. It’s a day to celebrate. The Only Place For Us is certainly true.
