Leeds United have left many fans wondering about who our final preseason friendly would be. We do not have to wait any longer according to Spanish site Kirol Deportes reported that La Liga side SD Eibar would be taking on the Whites while they are on their Austrian tour. The club’s official website also added that Leeds would be facing another Bundesliga side FC Ingolstadt 04 in addition to the previously announced friendly against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

As suggested in one of our previous articles, which can be found here, we noted that surely it can’t be against Eibar right? The team who we are currently in a tug-of-war with over a transfer for Samu Saiz, surely they wouldn’t pit us against them? Well, of course they have, and I couldn’t be more excited.

The FC Ingolstadt friendly is being a little overlooked with all of the excitement over the potential of a feisty match against Eibar. Ingolstadt had a rough season last year, as they were relegated to the 2.Bundesliga. The team itself is a “phoenix club” of sorts, after Ingolstadt’s two previous clubs, MTV Ingolstadt and ESV Ingolstadt “merged” in 2004 to form FC Ingolstadt 04. The team went from playing in the regional league of Bavaria in 2004 all the way to the Bundesliga in for 2015-16 season, but only lasted two seasons in the German top flight. With the team looking to start their attempt at promotion back to the Bundesliga, it should be a good test for the Whites.

The friendly against Eibar will be a highly anticipated match, and I feel like the players on the pitch are going to go all out before the season starts. I fully expect Samu Saiz to play, assuming he completes his imminent switch to the Yorkshire club.

If Samu Saiz plays, do you think the Eibar fans will jeer him at all? Do you think Leeds will have Saiz before then? Let me know down below in the comments!
