Some of the details of the preseason dates for Leeds United appear to be trickling out, slowly.

It appears that Leeds is heading to Fügen, Austria for a week. While not all of the fixtures have been confirmed, at least one of the opponents is rumored to be known, Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
Monchengladbach should be one. Other still unconfirmed. Previous opponents changed their plans.

Mochengladbach played in the Champions League last year, playing in the group of death with Barcelona, Manchester City, and Scotland’s Celtic FC. However, domestically the team was only able to finish 9th last season. The team had their glory years in the 1970s (sound familiar, Leeds fans?) winning back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 1970 and 1971, and three in a row between 1975 and 1977. Gladbach also lost the European Cup in 1977 to English First Division champions Liverpool.
As for the current squad, English fans will be interested to see if West Ham United’s Reece Oxford takes the pitch against Leeds, as the teams finalized a loan deal this past week for the young defender who spent half of last season on loan at Championship playoff finalists Reading. American fans might be interested to know that US Men’s National Team player Fabian Johnson plays for Gladbach, and Michael Bradley, now of Toronto FC, played for Gladbach from 2008 to 2011 before going on loan to Aston Villa and finally on to Serie A.
no, Celta Vigo pulled out. Not happening.

While the other team has yet to be confirmed, it appears that Leeds will play at least two opponents during their time in Austria. La Liga’s Celta Vigo was reportedly the other team, but those plans seem to have changed.
Also expect to see at least one preseason game back at Elland Road to warm up for the regular season which starts away at Bolton on August 6th. Once the preseason dates in Austria have been confirmed, expect an announcement in the next couple of days for the final fixture as well.
So, anyone up for a mountain adventure in Austria?
