Not good enough!!

Pre-Match Thoughts: I am nervous about the game; however, I am pleased with the balance within the XI. Doukara and Roofe playing in the wings add a nice balance to the team. The game will be an open affair as Leeds will need impose the quality early in the game to knock the wind out of Burton. The inclusion of Taylor will add another dimension to our attack threat and don’t be surprised to see Taylor grabbing an assist.

1st half:

  • Leeds 1st chance falls to Hernandez – The ball drop to him and he meets it on the half volley but puts it over.
  • Disallowed Goal- Corner in is met by Jansson and the ball falls to Wood but he judged offside and th goal is chalked off.
  • Leeds having the better of the play in the 1st 10 minutes but we remain 0-0
  • Burton have started to get back into the game with numerous corners in a short space of time but still 0-0
  • Leeds Chance – Corner is whipped in and met by the head of Bartley but the header is just cleared for another corner.
  • Another Leeds Chance – A well worked corner gives Wood a chance but the ball hits the side netting.

Half time Thoughts:

Leeds started the better side but couldn’t press their advantage home. Burton got back into the game with a few chances, but overall the game has not been the most inspiring. I would look to introduce somebody like Sacko, pace will make the difference later in the game.

2nd half:

  • Leeds have started the 2nd half on the front foot and are pressing hard but struggling to break down a disciplined Burton team. 0-0
  • Sacko replaces Doukara, hopefully Sacko’s pace will make all the difference.
  • Leeds Chance – Taylor does well and crosses from the left and Hernandez is free but the header is poor and is wide. 0-0
  • Alfonso Pedraza replaces Phillips
  • Burton score Marvin Sordell with goal 1-0
  • Burton score again Michael Kightly makes it 2-0
  • The game has become a goal fest as Bartley scores from close range to make 2-1.
  • Leeds Chance- Roofe should put the ball in from cross range but somehow it doesn’t go in.
  • F-T 2-1 Burton win and Leeds stay 7th and lose ground on Sheffield Wednesday & Fulham.

Full Time Thoughts

Leeds couldn’t break down Burton and suffered because of it. The loss may be the end of our playoff hopes. Hopefully, we will improve next week as today wasn’t good enough.
